Senior Visual Designer

Key Responsibilities
As the UX/UI Designer, I developed comprehensive solutions for the family law website, ensuring accessibility and usability across both mobile and desktop platforms. I created wireframes and established information architecture, leveraging user research to inform design decisions. All mock-ups were designed using Sketch, and I collaborated closely with a UX researcher, project managers, developers, editors, and business analysts in an Agile environment. My role included participating in user interviews, mapping user flows, and developing interaction models to enhance the user experience. Note: The timeline was only 5 months for the complete revamp of this website with over 900 content pages.

Goals x Results
Here are some specific challenges faced during the project:

  • User-Centered Design: Developing user-friendly and inclusive navigation required extensive user research and testing to ensure that the design met the needs of diverse users, particularly those going through divorce and separation.

  • Visual Cues for Divorce Guides: Implementing visual cues for location points in divorce guides helped users easily navigate complex information, improving overall comprehension and support.

  • Content Organization: Dividing content into landing pages for each main category allowed for clearer navigation and easier access to information, while emotional bubbles were added to provide empathetic support during difficult times.

  • Inclusive Photo Library: Curating a diverse photo library featuring various couples and backgrounds was essential for creating an inclusive environment that resonates with all users.

  • Accessibility Compliance: Adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (AA and AAA) ensured that the website was usable for individuals with disabilities, which involved careful selection of visual elements and photography.

  • Logo Design: Designing a logo that symbolized two houses going in different directions, along with the green mountains of BC and a final dot representing resolution, required a thoughtful approach to convey the project’s mission visually.

  • Unique Iconography: Creating distinctive icons enhanced the visual language of the website, making it more engaging and easier to navigate.

  • Marketing Campaigns: I designed all marketing materials to promote the website, including digital banners for social media, printed banners, and ads on public transport in the Greater Vancouver Area, ensuring consistent branding across platforms.

  • Design System: Developing a design system and recommending illustrations for various scenarios facilitated quick reading and pleasant user experiences, streamlining future design processes.

  • Client Bridge: Acting as the main point of contact and sole designer between the client and the agency ensured effective communication and kept the project on schedule, fostering a collaborative environment.
