While working on the Family Law website, I also developed two booklets: How to Appeal a Sentence and How to Appeal a Conviction. These guides are designed to assist low-income prisoners navigating legal documentation independently. Recognizing that many users face low literacy and accessibility challenges, I focused on creating inclusive and intuitive content in plain language.
The impact of these guides has been profound, providing freedom and hope to many individuals. One user expressed, “We didn’t know there were people out there thinking about helping us…”

Award of Merit in the RGD In-House Design Awards 2019 for the booklets:

Goal: make an inclusive booklet, with larger fonts, letter sizes with icons to support the information. People who are in prison, have very low literacy and want to go through the process without a lawyer. The new booklets have step-by-step infographics and attached forms with samples to follow the process in a much easier way. The booklets were designed at the same time that I redesigned the family law website.
